How To Drive Affiliate Traffic From Your Auction Listings By Giving Away a Free GiftOne of the best performing affiliate pages is my 99 Tips for eBay Buyers and Sellers. I don't sell anything directly from that page, but a high percentage of people who come to that page, go to another page a puchase something. One way to make money as my affiliate is to give away the 99 Tips as a free gift to anyone who looks at your auctions. But you have to follow eBay's rules carefully and do this the correct way. eBay does not allow you to put an active banner in your auction listing that goes direct to my affiliate link. However, you can drive traffic from your listing to your About Me Page and then put the banner in your About Me page. Here are the 3 easy steps: Step One - Become an Affiliate If you're already an affiliate then skip this step. You're already a third of the way done! If you haven't yet become an affiliate go to the affiliate program page on my site and follow the steps listed. It's easy to join and to be honest, folks love this program. Step Two - Add Code to Your Auction Page eBay does NOT allow you to put a link on auction pages that leads anywhere outside of eBay. So in order to give your visitors the free gift we'll add the code for an image of the 99 tips to your listing that will send them to your "About Me" page. That's where they'll get the link to 99 Tips for eBay Buyers and Sellers that will take them to my web site with your affiliate cookie embedded. 1 - Go to your auction page and create a space for the banner. 2 - Click the HTML tab so you can enter the following HTML code: 3 - Open another browser window and go to your About Me page. Copy the URL that appears in the address bar. 4 - Go back to your action page. See where it says "Put Your URL Here"? Replace those words with the URL of your About Me page. When you're done the code should look something like this: <a href="http://cgi3.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=mcgrrrrr#99" target="_blank"> 5 - Now paste this code into your auction listing somewhere near the bottom. the best place is probably right after your description and before your payment and shipping terms. This will place an image of the 99 Tips banner in your listing, but when people click on the image, it will take them to your About Me page. Step Tree - Add The Banner Code to Your About Me Page 1 - Log into your About Me Page. Click on Edit and select Add Your Own HTML. This last step is optional. It will center the banner and help set it off from your text. Source: http://www.skipmcgrath.com |
